About your session

I’ve had a few people ask me “What should I expect from a session with you?”  This has brought to my attention that instead of repeating it, I’ll have it all right here at the tips of my fingers to show and tell.

With the exception of my mini-sessions, most of my sessions last 1-2 hours, depending on what you’re wanting to achieve.  Head shots only last about an hour but a family session can and could go up to 3 hours.  Instead of repeating myself, here is all the information you’ll ever need.

This applies to all sessions.  Expect to have fun!  That is the most important thing to remember.  I will ask you to do some things that you had never planned on doing in a photo session and that you wouldn’t expect at a session.  These photos are to reflect who you are, so candids are a must.  They will show you and your family, well….being you and that is the most important thing.

MATERNITY SESSIONS

  • - Be ready to show that belly.  We will get formal shots, candid shots and some shots with props.  This will all be discussed prior to the session on what exactly you are trying to achieve.
  • - If you are having the session with siblings and spouses for that matter, please prepare them for what will be going on.  There will be some belly kissing, hugging, loving and all around good family fun :)
  • - If you are skeptical about having a maternity session done, try and remember this.  When I was pregnant with both my boys, I didn’t take the opportunity to have them done.  I regret it now.  Looking back on all these beautiful bellies that I’ve shot, I regret not doing it with the boys.

INFANT SESSIONS

  • - I like to photograph infants within the first 3 weeks if possible.  When we do your maternity session, you can tentatively book your infant session at that time.  I consider my infants from birth to 8 weeks.
  • - I provide some hats, props and blankets but if you have a blanket that Grandma made or a hat that is special to you or your family, by all means, bring it.
  • - Infant sessions can last up to 3 hours, sometimes longer and sometimes shorter.  It all depends on the baby and how well they will sleep and let us “rearrange” them for the shots.

CHILDREN SESSIONS

  • - I stoop to their level.  I will stalk them like no other and get them acting like them.
  • - We will do some formals but not enough to make your child uncomfortable.  I will work around them.
  • - Hats, dresses, shirts…whatever you would like to bring, is up to you.  If time and location allows, we can and will do outfit changes

FAMILY SESSIONS

  • - The first thing I mentioned about having fun?…repeat that here.
  • - This session is not just about the “family” but there will be candid shots along with individuals, mom with kids, dad with kids, and the list goes on.
  • - A family session is like getting a children’s session in a family session…all in one.
  • - Be sure to check out the “What to Wear” post.  It will help tremendously in your quest on what every one should show up in.

You just have to remember to have fun during these sessions.  I know I’ve repeated myself but it’s the one thing that is the most important.  I’m not WalMart.  I’m not Sears.  You will receive individual treatment and that reflects in my work.  Expect to receive approximately from 20-50 photos of your session, again depending on the session that you’ve chosen.

If you DON’T want to receive individual treatment…then I’m not your photographer.
If you DON’T want to receive up to 50 different photos of your session to choose from…then I’m not your photographer.

If you DON’T want to feel like your just another “appointment” on the calender…than I am your photographer.
